Tavern on Camac reopens with new chef and renovated space

Tavern on Camac, Philadelphia's oldest LGBTQ+ bar, reopened its doors after a year-long closure for extensive renovations. The establishment, which has been in operation since 1925, now features a redesigned kitchen and dining area, as well as updates to the second-floor lounge. Chef Zander Gatta, formerly of Royal Boucherie, has taken over the culinary direction, focusing on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Menu highlights include Snapper Crudo and a Fried Mushroom Sandwich, with prices ranging from $7 to $55. Gatta emphasized his commitment to enhancing the menu and creating delicious offerings for patrons.

The Tavern's historical significance includes its involvement in the Underground Railroad, adding to its appeal. Open daily from 4 p. m. to 2 a. m.
