1 killed, 5 wounded in weekend shootings

A woman was killed and at least five others injured in shootings across Philadelphia over the weekend. The police found the female victim, whose age remains undisclosed, on Latona Street in Grays Ferry on Saturday night. Initially listed in critical condition at Pennsylvania Hospital, she later died from her injuries. Other shootings included a man shot in North Philadelphia and two individuals injured in Strawberry Mansion, where investigators discovered three 9mm shell casings. The Philadelphia Police Department reported 124 homicides so far this year, marking a nearly 14% decrease compared to the same date in 2024.

The number of shooting victims has also decreased by about 7%. No arrests have been reported, and police are urging anyone with information to contact them. Counseling and peer support services are available for victims and their families, highlighting the ongoing impact of gun violence in the community.
