CCME offers Power Skills Boot Camp to High School Apprentices

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The City College for Municipal Employment (CCME) launched a bootcamp to improve soft skills for Philadelphia high school seniors seeking municipal jobs. Nineteen students from six local high schools participated in the program, which covered customer service, conflict resolution, and financial literacy over two days. The bootcamp serves as a supplement to the technical training provided at the Community College of Philadelphia's Career and Advance Technology Center. Participants will be eligible for city employment as Public Works Maintenance Trainees or Automotive Apprentices, starting at $42,529. The CCME collaborates with Fleet Services and the Department of Public Property to ensure students gain both technical skills and career readiness.

Hands-on tasks included working on heavy-duty vehicles and touring CATC facilities. Positive feedback from students reflects the program's effectiveness in enhancing workforce readiness. This initiative addresses the need for accessible job opportunities for Philadelphia students, regardless of their school background.
