Man who allegedly posed as ICE agent to rob Northeast Philly auto shop charged with false imprisonment

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Robert Rosado, 54, faces serious charges including robbery and false imprisonment after allegedly posing as an ICE agent to rob an auto repair shop in Northeast Philadelphia. On June 8, he entered the establishment wearing tactical gear and claimed he would detain undocumented workers, intimidating employees in the process. He zip-tied a female worker's hands and stole about $1,000 before fleeing in an unmarked white van. Law enforcement tracked the vehicle to Rosado, discovering a fake badge and other related items during searches of his properties. District Attorney Larry Krasner highlighted the crime's impact on the immigrant community, stating that it transcends mere robbery.

He plans to pursue a higher sentence due to the nature of Rosado's actions, which he believes exploit current immigration policies. Krasner also linked this incident to a trend of impersonation cases involving ICE agents, noting that the ambiguity surrounding real agents complicates identification. Rosado's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 8, and he remains in custody on $800,000 bail.
