Mac's Tavern, a bar part-owned by 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' stars, is closing after 15 years in Old City
Mac's Tavern, known for its connection to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," is set to close after 15 years of operation on Market Street. Co-owners Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson shared their appreciation for the loyal community in an Instagram post but did not disclose the reasons for the closure. The bar attracted a national audience, partly due to its ties to the sitcom and its status as a go-to spot for Wrexham AFC fans, a club co-owned by McElhenney. In recent years, Mac's hosted promotional events for Four Walls Whiskey, a product born from the collaboration of McElhenney and his co-stars. The tavern's location at 226 Market St.
has a rich history, previously home to Anthony's Olde City Pub and Skinner's Tavern. The owners stated that while the physical bar may close, their gratitude towards the community will endure. The closure marks the end of a notable chapter for both the bar and its dedicated patrons. Mac's Tavern had established itself as a beloved gathering place, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.
