American Legion Post 249 Donates 1,000 to Support Homeless Veterans
American Legion Post 249 donated $1,000 to Deacon Jim of Saint Peter the Apostle Church for Operation Chill-Out, a nonprofit that provides cold-weather essentials to homeless veterans. This donation was part of a pancake breakfast fundraiser held on November 16, which aims to strengthen community bonds in Parsippany. “Our mission is to support veterans not just in words, but in action,” said a Post member, emphasizing the importance of direct assistance. The next pancake breakfast is set for December 7, where attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a $6 donation for the Toys for Tots drive. In return, guests will enjoy a free breakfast.
American Legion Post 249 plays a crucial role in the local community, promoting goodwill and support for veterans. The organization’s efforts highlight the ongoing need for veteran assistance, particularly during winter months. Such events not only provide nourishment but also foster a spirit of service among residents.
