Mago month-long event series showcases diversity of Latin American cuisines

From Sept. 14 to Oct. 14, Mago restaurant in Oakland will host a month-long dinner series to honor Latin American Heritage Month. Chef Mark Liberman, a Colombian-American, created the event to celebrate the diverse culinary traditions of Latin America. The series will feature acclaimed chefs, including Costa Rican Pedro Cajas and Miami's Michelin-starred chef Leidy Benitez, while also spotlighting local talent.

The kickoff dinner, in partnership with La Cocina, will support initiatives for women and immigrants in the food industry. Each event will showcase unique dishes, such as Daniela Herrera's innovative take on Mexican cuisine. Liberman expressed his desire to celebrate the vibrant cultures found throughout the Bay Area and beyond. The series aims to inspire a greater appreciation for the culinary richness of Latin America. As Liberman stated, "I think this is gonna be a really nice and fun way to celebrate Latin American culture.
