Burn Ban Takes Effect June 15th in Unincorporated Skagit County

Oak Harbor, WALocal News

Starting June 15, 2025, Skagit County enforces a modified burn ban due to unfavorable weather conditions, prohibiting all residential and land-clearing fires. Existing burn permits are suspended, and no new permits will be issued during this period. Recreational and cooking fires remain permissible under strict guidelines, which include a maximum size of three feet in diameter and two feet in height. Fires must be contained within enclosures at least 14 inches high and monitored by someone at least 16 years old. Residents must have safety equipment, such as a charged garden hose or two buckets of water, readily available.

They should also check for additional burning restrictions, particularly during “Red Flag Warnings” or air quality burn bans. The Northwest Clean Air Agency regulates agricultural burning, while the Washington State Department of Natural Resources covers silvicultural burning. For more information, residents can contact the Skagit County Fire Marshal’s Office.
