Extension for Hillside Residential Development

Oak Harbor, WALocal News

The Oak Harbor City Council has approved a two-year extension for the Hillside Planned Residential Development, which will see the construction of 192 single-family homes by Pacific North Group Inc. This decision follows a thorough review of the project's progress and aims to address community concerns regarding transparency and engagement. Developer Scott Thompson emphasized the importance of collaboration with city officials, ensuring that the project aligns with local interests. Development Services Director David Kuhl noted that the extension allows time to clarify contract details, including essential timelines. A motion by Councilmember Marrow, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Hizon, led to an amendment extending the submission timeline from 30 to 60 days.

During this period, the developer is required to submit a construction schedule, engineer's estimate, and necessary bonds. The city is committed to working closely with the developer to ensure that the project meets community needs and expectations. Mayor Wright reiterated the importance of council involvement in the process, as they often field questions from constituents about the development.
