Improvements will close Kensington Highway 1 westbound exit for two months
The Ministry of Transportation and Transit will close the westbound offramp from Highway 1 to Kensington Avenue starting July 2, 2025, to repair pavement settlement issues. This closure, lasting until the end of August, includes one northbound lane on Kensington Avenue, aimed at improving safety and driving conditions for motorists. Crews will work around the clock to ensure repairs are completed efficiently. Drivers can utilize Gaglardi Way or Willingdon Avenue as alternative routes during the closure. The ministry is actively engaging with the City of Burnaby and local residents and businesses to mitigate disruptions.
Motorists should anticipate delays and plan for additional travel time. Safety signage will be in place, and drivers are encouraged to comply with all posted instructions. The ongoing improvements reflect the ministry's commitment to maintaining vital transportation infrastructure in the region.
