B.C. advancing easier ways of doing business

North Vancouver, BCGovernment

The Province of British Columbia has launched an ease-of-doing-business review to streamline processes and reduce barriers for businesses. This initiative aims to modernize regulatory systems and enhance the province's competitiveness. According to Minister Diana Gibson, the review will gather input from entrepreneurs and business owners through an online portal until fall 2025. Identified challenges will be categorized into four areas: policy, regulation, funding, and taxes. This effort aligns with recent legislation designed to expedite renewable-energy projects while ensuring strong environmental protections.

The BC Chamber of Commerce emphasized the importance of performance measures to track progress and accountability. Additionally, the review builds on previous efforts that have resulted in over 4,000 regulatory amendments since 2016, making interactions between businesses and government more efficient. By reducing red tape, the government aims to attract new investment and foster sustainable growth throughout the province.
