BC Hydro launches new actions to power B.C.s clean-energy future

North Vancouver, BCGovernment

BC Hydro has launched two requests for expressions of interest (RFEOIs) to explore clean energy advancements in British Columbia. The first RFEOI seeks capacity and baseload energy projects, such as geothermal and hydroelectric, to meet evolving peak electricity demands. The second RFEOI invites partners to deliver market-ready energy efficiency technologies for homes and buildings. Minister of Energy Adrian Dix stated that these initiatives present a chance to lead globally in clean energy while fostering job growth. BC Hydro's Power Smart energy savings program, along with its $700 million Energy Efficiency Plan, aims to save customers $80 million annually.

These efforts will help reduce electricity consumption and enhance the province's energy security. The information gathered from the RFEOIs will guide future energy planning and procurement strategies. Submissions are due by September 2025.
