More campsites, new facilities opening at China Beach
The China Beach Campground at Juan de Fuca Park will soon add 13 new campsites, increasing the total to 125, along with new accessible washrooms and showers. Minister of Environment and Parks Tamara Davidson emphasized the role of camping in fostering family connections and supporting the local economy. The campground will open on May 15, with reservations starting May 1 for the 2025 season. This expansion is a collaborative effort with the Pacheedaht First Nation and is part of a larger $21. 5-million investment aimed at improving outdoor recreation throughout British Columbia.
Upgrades will also include enhancements to the nearby day-use parking area, which will see approximately 45 new stalls and facilities for RVs. This initiative follows the addition of 33 campsites in spring 2024, demonstrating a commitment to meet the growing demand for camping in the region. The park, which spans 1,528 hectares, includes various recreational opportunities, including the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, currently undergoing repairs. As BC Parks expands its offerings, the focus remains on accessibility and accommodating the needs of increasing visitor numbers.
