B.C. supports land stewardship at Pipi7yekwJoffre Lakes Park
Pipi7íyekw/Joffre Lakes Park will close from April 25 to May 16, 2025, allowing the Líl̓wat Nation and N͛Quatqua to reconnect with their land. After this period, a free day-use pass will be required for visitors aged 12 and older starting May 17. The park's popularity has surged, prompting enhanced management to prevent environmental degradation. Since 2021, day-use passes have improved visitor experiences by ensuring adequate parking and reducing congestion. The park operates under a collaborative management model with Líl̓wat Nation and N͛Quatqua, emphasizing the importance of cultural practices and environmental protection.
Since 2018, these parties have worked together on a Visitor Use Management Strategy. Visitors should be aware there may be snow in the park and parking lot. Upcoming details on backcountry camping reservations at Upper Joffre Lake will be provided soon.
