B.C., First Nations leaders gather to advance reconciliation
Premier David Eby and various First Nations leaders opened the 10th B. C. Cabinet and First Nations Leaders’ Gathering on November 4, 2025, aiming to strengthen government-to-government relationships. The event unites over 1,300 participants from more than 200 First Nations to advance reconciliation and uphold Indigenous self-determination. Attendees will engage in over 1,300 scheduled one-on-one meetings, addressing vital issues such as major projects and racism.
Plenary sessions and an exhibitor space provide further opportunities for connection and dialogue. Regional Chief Terry Teegee highlighted the gathering's significance amid a troubling rise in anti-Indigenous rhetoric, stressing the need to uphold the principles of free, prior, and informed consent. The gathering reflects a commitment to meaningful reconciliation and the establishment of true partnerships based on respect. This collaboration aims to benefit all British Columbians through increased prosperity and reduced conflicts. The gathering is co-hosted by the provincial government and the First Nations Leadership Council, emphasizing a unified approach to addressing community aspirations.
