Provincial funding boosts Indigenous-led treatment, recovery
The B. C. Ministry of Health announced funding of $25,000 for 15 Indigenous-led organizations to enhance treatment and recovery services. The grants enable these organizations to improve service delivery through investments in supplies, technology, and staff training. Recipients include Carrier Sekani Family Services and the Lillooet Friendship Centre Society, selected for their dedication to cultural wellness programs.
Applications were open from May to July 2025, with funding distributed in September 2025. This initiative builds on the government's ongoing efforts to create a comprehensive mental health and addiction care continuum. The funding supports early intervention, prevention, and complex-care housing. According to the Ministry, these measures are crucial for long-term improvements in service delivery. The initiative underscores the importance of culturally relevant care for First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and urban Indigenous Peoples.
