New secondary school in Langford will add 2,000 student spaces

The Province of British Columbia will build a new secondary school in Langford, which will add 2,000 student spaces to address the needs of the community. Premier David Eby stated that every student deserves a safe and innovative learning environment close to home. The school will boast modern facilities, including science and computer labs, a gym, and a theatre, all designed to meet high environmental standards. With nearly $220 million allocated for the project, construction is expected to commence in 2027, showcasing the government’s commitment to educational infrastructure. MLA Ravi Parmar described this investment as the largest in the region's educational history.

The school aims to reduce overcrowding and provide diverse elective options for students. Minister of Infrastructure Bowinn Ma noted that the investment supports families in Langford for generations. Since 2017, the Province has committed approximately $515 million to the Sooke school district, creating 4,660 new student spaces.
