Construction has commenced on the Dr. F. W. Green Memorial Home in Cranbrook, aiming to expand its long-term care capacity from 60 to 150 beds. The five-storey design will replace the outdated 70-year-old facility, creating a supportive environment for seniors and their families.

Minister of Infrastructure Bowinn Ma highlighted the project's role in job creation and enhancing local health services. Construction will occur in two phases, with Phase 1 expected to open in 2027 and provide space for 66 new beds. Phase 2, scheduled for completion in 2030, will add 84 beds and include a child care facility, fostering a multi-generational community hub. The Ktunaxa Nation is collaborating on the project to ensure cultural integration and respect for traditional practices. This initiative aligns with the B.

C. government's $3. 5 billion investment in improving senior care services over five years. The new facility will enhance the quality of life for residents, promoting dignity and social connections.
