New classrooms opening, more on the way for Surrey students
Surrey is set to open new classrooms this fall, adding over 700 student seats at schools such as Woodland Park Elementary and Walnut Road Elementary. In response to rapid enrollment growth, the B. C. government has invested over $1 billion since 2017, resulting in the creation of more than 16,200 new student spaces. Construction has also begun on more than 2,300 new seats at schools including Kwantlen Park Secondary and George Greenaway Elementary.
Officials emphasize the importance of modern, safe learning environments to support the educational needs of families in the area. Minister of Infrastructure Bowinn Ma and local MLA Jagrup Brar advocate for quality learning spaces as essential to the community's development. The Surrey Board of Education is excited about the new classroom additions, highlighting their role in enhancing student experiences. These projects align with the government's commitment to ensuring that infrastructure meets the demands of a growing population. As the community expands, local leaders continue to prioritize educational investments that foster student success.
