North Vancouver, BCLocal News

Mission families will benefit from a new child care center that provides 67 licensed spaces, significantly improving local childcare access. Rohini Arora, the parliamentary secretary for child care, stated that the center will lead to substantial monthly savings for families. It enables single parents to take jobs and allows mothers to continue their education, fostering stability. The project received over $4. 9 million from the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund and an additional $1 million from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities.

Mayor Paul Horn highlighted the importance of cooperation among community stakeholders in realizing this initiative. This new center adds to more than 200 previously funded spaces in Mission, addressing local family needs. Since 2018, ChildCareBC has funded over 41,500 new licensed child care spaces across British Columbia, with more than 26,200 currently operational. Expanding affordable, high-quality child care options remains a key aspect of the Province's ChildCareBC plan.
