Classrooms under construction will add nearly 1,500 student spaces
Construction is underway for new classrooms at seven schools across British Columbia, adding nearly 1,500 student spaces to meet the needs of rapidly growing communities. The Province has invested approximately $119 million in these projects, aimed at enhancing educational facilities. Minister of Infrastructure Bowinn Ma stated that the government is committed to building schools faster than ever, ensuring students can learn in safe, modern environments. Local leaders, including MLA Kelly Greene, emphasized the link between strong schools and vibrant communities. Since 2017, the Province has allocated over $6 billion for school construction and renovations, creating nearly 43,000 new student spaces and bolstering safety standards.
The new classrooms will be built in Chilliwack, Delta, Fort St. John, Richmond, North Vancouver, and Maple Ridge. This initiative not only addresses immediate educational needs but also supports long-term community growth and student development. The ongoing commitment to investing in education underscores the Province's dedication to equipping students for success.
