Premier signs trade agreements with Ontario, Manitoba, Yukon
British Columbia has signed trade agreements with Ontario, Manitoba, and Yukon to facilitate internal trade and enhance worker mobility. Premier David Eby highlighted the importance of these agreements in creating a more resilient economy amidst external pressures. The Ontario agreement simplifies the process for regulated professionals to work across provinces and establishes a framework for direct-to-consumer alcohol sales. In Manitoba, the agreement will allow more mobility for regulated workers and enable the direct sale of alcoholic beverages from Manitoba to B. C.
The Yukon agreement focuses on aligning standards for regulated occupations and fostering collaboration on electrical grid connections. These initiatives aim to strengthen consumer choice and support local businesses. The agreements were finalized during the Council of the Federation meeting in Huntsville, Ontario.
