North Bend City Council Adjusts Timeline for Police Services Vendor Selection

North Bend, WALocal News

The North Bend City Council has made significant adjustments to the schedule for selecting a police services vendor, voting unanimously to amend the timeline at a recent meeting. This decision removes an optional work study session previously planned for April 22, granting council members additional time to evaluate vendor presentations from the Snoqualmie Police Department and the King County Sheriff's Office on April 8. Proposals must be submitted by April 11, and the council will review the scored results on April 15, with a final decision expected during the May 6 meeting. Councilmember Brenden Elwood advocated for a less hurried decision-making process, asserting that adequate time is crucial for thorough consideration. Support for the amendment was echoed by Councilmember Suzan Torguson, who preferred a firm schedule over uncertainty.

However, Councilmember Errol Tremolada voiced opposition, arguing that the council had already invested significant effort in establishing the initial timeline. Despite these differences, all council members share the common goal of selecting the best service provider to ensure the safety and security of North Bend residents.
