City exits annual Water Conservation Ordinance, thanks residents for conservation efforts
North Bend lifted its Water Conservation Ordinance on November 7, 2025, following a series of rainfall events that increased river flows. The ordinance, in effect for six years, began its latest stage in August. Despite the city's population growing from approximately 1,700 water meters in 2009 to over 2,400 in 2020, water consumption decreased significantly. Water production dropped from 230 million gallons in 2009 to 198 million gallons in 2023, demonstrating successful conservation efforts. The city attributes this reduction to various initiatives, including education and leak reduction programs.
Residents can find resources and rebates for conserving water through the Saving Water Partnership. The city's actions illustrate a commitment to sustainable water management amid population growth. This ongoing effort is crucial for maintaining water availability in the region.
