North Bend will host an open house on October 28 from 5:30 to 7 p. m. at the North Bend Library to discuss the 230 Main Affordable Housing Project. The initiative aims to provide 40 affordable housing units for local workers earning no more than 60% of the King County median income. In November 2023, the North Bend City Council approved the purchase of a 0.

4-acre parcel of land for this project, funded through Real Estate Excise Tax. The project seeks to address workforce shortages while demonstrating innovative affordable housing solutions. A public hearing will follow on November 5 at City Hall, allowing residents to comment on the proposed Disposition and Development Agreement. This agreement is crucial for securing financial support from the city and approving necessary code deviations. Residents are encouraged to engage with city officials and express their opinions, emphasizing the project's importance to the community.
