Join the Apple Cup Food Drive for healthy competition benefitting Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank

North Bend, WALocal News

North Bend is introducing a food drive to coincide with the Apple Cup competition, running from September 2 to September 20, to support the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank. Residents can drop off unexpired food donations at City Hall, choosing to back either the University of Washington Huskies or the Washington State University Cougars. Each family's donations will count towards touchdowns and field goals, with results announced on game day. The food bank is grappling with a food supply crisis exacerbated by federal program cuts and reduced support from key suppliers. According to the SVFB, the federal TEFAP program has been halved, causing significant sourcing challenges.

Community participation is crucial to ensure that local families receive necessary nourishment amid rising demand. Specific items urgently needed include canned proteins, cooking oil, and baby formula. The food bank serves thousands across North Bend and Snoqualmie, highlighting the importance of this initiative.
