North Bend Water Conservation Ordinance begins August 15, moves to Stage 2 August 20

North Bend, WALocal News

The City of North Bend initiated Stage 1 of its Water Conservation Ordinance (WCO) on August 15 in response to lower than average flow rates of the Snoqualmie River. Stage 2 will be enacted on August 20, further restricting irrigation to the hours of 6 p. m. to 10 a. m.

Hand watering remains unrestricted, and properties using drip irrigation solely are exempt from the ordinance. The WCO aims to conserve water for both community needs and local wildlife. Residents are encouraged to avoid wasteful practices, such as over-irrigation and unnecessary pool draining. The city joined the Saving Water Partnership in 2021, providing residents access to rebates and free assessments to promote water conservation. Resources for staying informed on local conservation efforts and weather forecasts are available through the National Weather Service.

Efficient water management is essential for sustaining this critical natural resource in the Snoqualmie Valley.
