North Bend, WALocal News

The Railway Crossing Capital Project in North Bend, funded by a $4. 8 million federal grant, will enhance four railway crossings to improve safety and travel quality. The City Council approved the project, prompting road closures on State Route 202 from October 26 to October 31, and Main Avenue S from November 2 to November 7, 2025. Contractor Stacy Witbeck will oversee the construction, working day and night to complete the projects efficiently. Residents can expect clearly marked detours and messaging boards with updates on road closures.

Preparatory work will begin on October 13 at the former Bartells Drug Store site, where crews will install a silt fence. The upgrades will introduce new tracks, crossing gates, and signals, relocating tracks to allow for future parking improvements. Community members can stay informed through updates as construction dates are finalized. The project aims to enhance safety and travel for all users in the area.
