North Bend's City Council unanimously approved an interlocal agreement with Snoqualmie to transition police services to the King County Sheriff’s Office, effective April 2026. This decision follows extensive public discourse, showcasing the community's commitment to maintaining high-quality police services. Mayor Miller emphasized the importance of community involvement, inviting residents to attend City Council meetings to engage with local governance. The city also celebrated various community initiatives, such as Senior Center Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, underscoring the value of civic engagement. Additionally, Assistant Chief Will Aho has been appointed as the new Fire Chief of Eastside Fire and Rescue, succeeding Chief Ben Lane, who is retiring after 31 years of service.

Mayor Miller expressed confidence in Chief Aho’s leadership, noting his extensive experience in fire service. The new agreement aims to ensure public safety while fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and the community. Residents are encouraged to welcome the King County Sheriff’s officers already present in the area as part of this transition.
