Mock Emergency Drill at U of I April 10 Will Involve Law, Fire, EMS

Moscow, IDLocal News

On April 10, 2025, the University of Idaho will conduct a mock emergency response drill from 1 PM to 4 PM, involving multiple local agencies. The Moscow Police Department, Moscow Volunteer Fire Department, and Latah County Sheriff’s office will participate to bolster readiness for real emergencies. This drill aligns with the university’s Emergency Response Plan, aiming to enhance coordination between U of I leadership and emergency responders. Residents are advised to avoid the Memorial Gym area, where barriers will be erected and Rayburn Street closed to traffic. Passersby may see law enforcement personnel with firearms and hear simulated gunfire as part of the exercise.

The event is designed to simulate a real active assailant scenario, and security personnel will monitor access to the area. Media coverage will be conducted as if it were an actual emergency response situation. For further inquiries, the university's Executive Director of Communications, Jodi Walker, is available for contact.
