The Latah County Human Rights Task Force invites nominations for the 2026 Rosa Parks Human Rights Achievement Awards, which will be presented at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast on January 24, 2026. Each year, two awards are given: one for an individual with a notable history of human rights achievements in Latah County and a Youth Award for a promising student. The criteria for selection include active participation in human rights causes, leadership, and courage in opposing bigotry. Nominees must be submitted via a one to two-page letter outlining their accomplishments, with a deadline of January 13, 2026.

Rosa Parks, after whom the award is named, sparked the Montgomery bus boycott, significantly advancing civil rights. The awards aim to celebrate local efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion. The event will take place at the Great Room of the 1912 Center, emphasizing community engagement. Nominations can be sent via mail or email to Joann Muneta at jmuneta43@gmail. com.
