Lee Anne Eareckson and Linda Pike Receive Sheikh Community Unity Award
Mayor Art Bettge selected Lee Anne Eareckson and Linda Pike as recipients of the Ismat Ara and Abdul Mannan Sheikh Community Unity Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to community unity and human rights in Moscow, Idaho. The award ceremony is scheduled for November 6 in the City Council Chambers, featuring a formal presentation and the unveiling of plaques honoring the recipients. Eareckson has taught at Moscow High School since 1987 and founded a nonprofit focused on conservation projects for students. Pike, a retired state tax judge, has engaged in various community initiatives, including the League of Women Voters and Habitat for Humanity. Established to commemorate Ismat Ara and Abdul Mannan Sheikh, the award reflects their commitment to inclusivity, particularly through community Thanksgiving meals.
