2025 Fall Burning Season Announced

Moscow, IDLocal News

The City of Moscow Fire Department confirmed that the 2025 Fall Open Burning Season will run from October 24 to December 1. Residents can legally burn garden waste, tree trimmings, and brush without a permit, under specific guidelines to ensure safety. Fires must maintain a minimum distance of 25 feet from buildings for smaller piles and 50 feet for larger ones. A garden hose or fire extinguisher must be available, and a responsible adult must supervise the burn site until the fire is fully out. Burning is strictly forbidden on public land and of materials that release toxic smoke or fumes.

The Fire Chief may order an immediate cessation of burning if smoke becomes hazardous, or if a burn ban is issued by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. Non-compliance could result in fines under the City of Moscow Code. For further information, residents can contact the Moscow Fire Department directly.
