Farmers Market Tops in State, Region Expansion, Halloween Contest Discussed
The Farmers Market Commission in Moscow approved the sixth annual Halloween Costume Contest for Oct. 25 during its regular meeting on Tuesday. The market also celebrated its first-place finish in the Idaho state and Pacific region categories of American Farmland Trust's America’s Farmers Market Celebration, where it garnered 830 votes and ranked 15th nationally. This Saturday, the market will relocate to Jackson Street to accommodate the University of Idaho Homecoming Parade. Contest registration will occur in six categories at Friendship Square, with winners announced via social media and recognized at the Nov.
3 City Council meeting. The commission also discussed potential expansion onto Fourth Street, noting that some vendors prefer placement on side streets. However, they acknowledged challenges such as the lack of electricity along Fourth Street. Vendors expressed frustration over the lengthy waitlist, prompting the board to plan a discussion on this issue at an upcoming meeting. The next Farmers Market Commission meeting is set for 4 p.
m. on Nov. 4 in City Hall.
