Memory-care home celebrates three years assisted living house next

Moscow, IDLocal News

Hill House in Moscow, Idaho, plans to unveil GreenHaven, its new assisted living facility, this week at the intersection of Sand Road and Augustine Street. Unlike its current focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s care, GreenHaven aims to create a home-like atmosphere that fosters dignity and independence among residents. Administrator Nate Bartlett states that their mission is centered around "comfort and joy," emphasizing palliative care that values happiness over stringent safety protocols. Activities such as gardening and music therapy help residents maintain their memories and engage meaningfully with their surroundings. The staff, consisting mainly of young and newly certified nursing assistants, are trained to connect residents with their past, enhancing the care experience.

Bartlett notes that word has spread about the supportive work environment at Hill House, leading to improved staffing over the past six months. One resident even improved their health enough to stop insulin treatments, showcasing the effectiveness of Hill House's approach. The community's positive response to Hill House raises the possibility of further expansions in senior care services.
