LCHS and UI Library present screening and discussion of IDPTV documentary on womens suffrage
The Latah County Historical Society and the University of Idaho Library will present the documentary “Ahead of Her Time: Women’s Suffrage in Idaho” on September 9th at 4 p. m. This event will feature a discussion led by Dr. Rebecca Scofield, an expert in American studies and gender history. The documentary recounts how Idaho became the fourth state to grant women's suffrage in 1896, 24 years before the national 19th Amendment was ratified.
The screening will occur in the second-floor classroom of the University of Idaho Library, located at 850 S Rayburn St in Moscow. This event is free and open to all, reflecting the local commitment to historical education. The screening is part of a broader initiative coinciding with the Smithsonian exhibit “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America,” which will be on display at the library until October 3rd. This collaboration is supported by the Idaho Humanities Council and the Smithsonian Institution, emphasizing the importance of democratic engagement. Dr.
Scofield's insights will add depth to the discussion of women's suffrage history in Idaho and its significance in the national context.
