Move over, fourth-graders. Today is Third Graders Day, thanks to a Minnesota girl.
Third Graders Day was officially celebrated in Minnesota for the first time, thanks to the advocacy of third-grader Karen Wadena from the White Earth Nation. Governor Tim Walz proclaimed March 3 as a day to honor the optimism and curiosity of third-grade students, leading to celebrations across the state. Karen’s initiative, inspired by the existence of National Fourth Graders Day, highlights the importance of recognition for younger students.
