Key features include a reconnection of Nicollet Avenue, a variety of housing options for all income levels, and new parks for public gatherings. Mayor Jacob Frey emphasized the project's importance in uniting communities and revitalizing the space. City Council Vice President Aisha Chughtai reinforced the commitment to ensuring that resident feedback drives the development process.

The Whittier Alliance has actively participated in fostering community engagement, advocating for continued involvement as the project progresses. This redevelopment is framed as a generational investment in Minneapolis's future, focusing on sustainable design and local business support. Approval from the City Council is expected in the spring, with construction slated to begin later in 2025.
