What we know about the Annunciation shooter
Robin Westman, 23, tragically killed two children and injured 18 others in an attack at Annunciation Catholic Church before dying by suicide. Westman had a troubled academic history, attending several schools but ultimately leaving them due to various issues, including a brief stint at Minnesota Transitions Charter School. Employed at a medical cannabis dispensary, Westman was disciplined for attendance problems and had recently quit the job. Their mother, Mary Grace Westman, who worked at the church, expressed her devastation when contacted by the media. A manifesto published online shortly before the attack highlighted Westman's obsession with death and included references to other school shooters.
In 2020, Westman legally changed their name to reflect their gender identity, indicating a personal struggle. The local community has been left reeling from the events, prompting condolences and calls for a thorough investigation into the shooter’s motives. Authorities continue to examine the background and influences that may have contributed to this tragic incident.
