MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has launched an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program aimed at preventing and addressing animal cruelty in the community. This initiative has trained over 460 officers across nearly 70 agencies since its inception in September. Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi stresses the program's goal of rescuing animals from abusive conditions and ensuring they receive necessary medical care. The program was developed in partnership with Pasado’s Safe Haven and has shown promising results, with an increase in rescued animals and accountability for offenders. Vasconi, who has a deep passion for animal welfare, believes that every animal deserves love and basic necessities.

The training has garnered positive feedback from participants, highlighting its effectiveness and importance. The Community Service Unit in Marysville is committed to enforcing state laws regarding animal crimes, with Officer Vasconi often responding to cruelty complaints. Residents witnessing animal cruelty are encouraged to contact 911 immediately to report such incidents.
