MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program to tackle animal abuse effectively. Since its inception in September, the initiative has enrolled nearly 70 agencies and trained over 460 officers. Officer Dave Vasconi emphasized that the primary goal is to rescue animals from abusive conditions and provide them with essential medical care. The program's success is evident in the growing number of animals saved and offenders prosecuted. Pasado's Safe Haven's Director of Investigations and Rescue Operations praised the collaboration and the positive responses from officers who participated in the training.

Marysville’s Community Service Unit, led by Officer Vasconi, focuses on enforcing state laws against animal crimes. Each year, the unit responds to numerous animal cruelty complaints, often resulting in arrests and rescues. Residents are encouraged to report any animal cruelty incidents immediately by calling 911.
