PAWS Companion Animal Shelter offers dogs, cats and a new leash on life

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Since 1967, the PAWS Companion Animal Shelter in Lynnwood has found homes for over 150,000 dogs and cats, demonstrating its commitment to animal welfare. CEO Heidi Wills highlights that adopting from PAWS not only provides loving homes but also saves lives, as around 70% of the animals come from high-risk situations. The shelter has recently relocated its wildlife rehabilitation center to a larger facility, enabling it to care for more injured or orphaned animals. Volunteers are essential, providing socialization and care that improve the pets' behavior and reduce stress. PAWS also offers educational programs for local students, fostering responsibility towards animal care.

The shelter relies heavily on donations, with less than 10% of its revenue from adoption fees. With a strong history of community involvement, PAWS invites individuals to support its mission through adoption, volunteering, and donations, benefiting both animals and the community.
