State stocking Snohomish County lakes with trout for Black Friday

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is preparing for a festive Black Friday by stocking 24 lakes statewide with over 65,000 rainbow trout, including unique jumbo varieties for anglers. This initiative aims to boost local fishing opportunities and foster outdoor traditions among families and friends during the holiday weekend. In Snohomish County, popular lakes such as Lake Ballinger, Gissburg Ponds, Silver Lake, and Lake Tye will be stocked. With a variety of trout, including 'holiday special' jumbo trout weighing up to three pounds, this event promises to attract both seasoned anglers and newcomers. Steve Caromile, WDFW's inland trout manager, emphasized the significance of the Black Friday fishing tradition, which has gained popularity over the years.

Anglers aged 15 and older can participate, provided they have a valid Washington freshwater fishing license, available online or at local vendors. For fishing tips or up-to-date stocking information, WDFW offers resources on its website and encourages everyone to partake in this unique holiday experience, highlighting the importance of outdoor activities and community engagement during the season.
