Bomb cyclone still on track to bring high winds to Snohomish County

Lynnwood, WALocal News

A bomb cyclone is set to impact Snohomish County, with the National Weather Service predicting easterly winds of 30 mph and gusts potentially exceeding 50 mph starting Tuesday afternoon. Residents should remain alert despite calm conditions earlier in the day, as forecasters expect a sudden shift to severe weather. The Snohomish Public Utility District has deployed linemen throughout the region in anticipation of power outages and is urging customers to prepare. High wind warnings are currently in effect for the Washington coast and Cascade foothills, with areas like Gold Bar expecting gusts of 55-60 mph. Additionally, a blizzard warning is in place for the western slopes of the Cascades, predicting snowfall between 4 to 12 inches at elevations above 2,500 feet.

The storm's effects will extend from Vancouver Island to northern California. Residents are encouraged to secure loose items in their yards to minimize potential damage. As temperatures are expected to warm slightly later in the week, another system could bring wet and windy conditions by Friday.
