WSDOT Dont get gobbled up during Thanksgiving travel

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) warns that heavy traffic and potential delays will affect Thanksgiving travel in Washington. Millions are expected to travel on highways and ferries, particularly along Interstate 90, US 2, and I-5, where significant congestion is anticipated. WSDOT advises travelers to plan their trips early or late to avoid peak travel times and highlights the importance of utilizing real-time traffic updates. Most construction activities will be paused over the holiday weekend to help reduce congestion. Additionally, seasonal closures of State Routes 410 and 123 have been enacted due to avalanche risks, impacting travel through mountain passes.

WSDOT also encourages travelers to prepare for winter conditions by carrying chains and checking pass requirements. Text alerts for road closures and delays are available for those traveling on I-90. With the holiday weekend coinciding with festive events, travelers should expect increased congestion, especially in popular regions.
