Art Start NW expands to more classrooms in third year

Lynnwood, WALocal News

In its third year, Art Start NW nonprofit expanded its reach by partnering with three Edmonds middle schools, enhancing local art education. The program donated over $10,000 in art supplies to schools, ensuring that every student received a sketchbook and teachers had fully stocked art cabinets. This fall, Art Start NW kicked off the school year with two workshops for teachers, focusing on mixed-media projects and literature-inspired art. The nonprofit secured three grants to support its initiatives, including funding from the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation and the Paul Allen Community Access grant. Additionally, the organization launched the Student Art Wall and Teacher Resources pages on its website, providing free lesson plans and showcasing student artwork.

Looking ahead, Art Start NW plans to host more workshops for art teachers in the coming months. Schools with active PTAs can join as Sponsored Partnerships to further enhance art education opportunities. This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression in the community.
