Budget, emergency management, opioid settlement spending on Lynnwood agenda Oct. 20

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Lynnwood City Council will convene on October 20 to review critical financial and emergency management issues. The Washington State Auditor's office will present the 2024 Accountability Audit, confirming the city’s compliance with all reviewed metrics. The council will also assess its emergency management plan, which outlines disaster response strategies in collaboration with Snohomish County. With over $900,000 remaining in its opioid fund, officials will discuss a proposed spending plan that includes $500,000 for local organizations by March 2026. The remaining funds would be designated for internal projects or future needs approved by the council.

Furthermore, the council will address a projected $11. 8 million shortfall in the 2025-26 budget, which may prompt a revision of the city’s minimum fund balance policy. Lowering this requirement could help alleviate the deficit for 2025 but not for 2026, according to city staff. The meeting will take place at 6 p. m.

at Lynnwood City Hall and will be available for online viewing.
