Lynnwood, WALocal News

Lynnwood resident Carey Lando will compete in the Rebelle Rally, an eight-day off-road endurance challenge, starting Friday with teammate Andrea Shaffer. They will navigate 1,500 miles through California and Nevada in a factory-sponsored 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid, using only maps and compasses. Lando describes the competition as physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, asserting that many men have expressed disbelief at the rally's endurance requirements. The Rebelle Rally, founded by Emily Miller, aims to create accessible opportunities for women in motorsports, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Other competitors include Kelli Diann Gordon and Joy Culley from the Seattle area, who are participating in their rookie year with a 2022 Toyota Tundra.

Gordon remarks on the familial connection to their grandmothers, highlighting the event's personal significance. The rally emphasizes collaboration between driver and navigator, challenging participants to push their limits. This event not only showcases women’s capabilities in motorsports but also fosters a supportive community.
