Edmonds School Board OKs changes to Housing Hope lease, College Place boundaries

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Edmonds School Board approved several significant changes on Sept. 23, including updates to its Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program to incorporate dual language offerings. This shift aims to enhance language proficiency among students, moving beyond just transitional bilingual programming. The board also approved school improvement plans for tier 3 schools, a requirement for state grant applications to support operations. Amendments to a lease with Housing Hope will enable the construction of Scriber Place, an affordable housing development for homeless families, as outlined by the City of Lynnwood.

Furthermore, the board adjusted property boundaries for College Place Elementary and Middle Schools to facilitate new constructions without altering the project timeline, set to open in September 2028. The board swore in five student advisors for the upcoming school year, emphasizing student involvement in district governance. Minor changes to the district’s policy on instructional materials were also approved. These actions demonstrate the board's commitment to improving educational resources and community support.
