The Afrolatino Festival held in Lynnwood was a vibrant celebration that attracted hundreds of attendees looking to indulge in the rich cultural offerings of African and Latino communities. Food trucks lined the venue, serving a variety of cuisines, including Guatemalan, Salvadorian, and Peruvian dishes, alongside refreshing ice cream and agua frescas. Attendees were invited to join free salsa classes and enjoy live performances from artists representing Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Panama. During the opening remarks, Afrolatino Festival CEO Karina Gasperin expressed her appreciation for former mayor Nicola Smith's support in launching the festival, which had previously faced obstacles in gaining recognition. Mayor Christine Frizzell highlighted Lynnwood's evolution from a predominantly homogeneous community to the most diverse city in Snohomish County.

This transformation, she stated, is beneficial for the entire community, promoting cultural exchange and understanding. The festival serves as a platform for sharing diverse traditions and fostering connections among residents.
